Job Description:

The physical therapy assistant position for Therapy Solutions works as part of a team to provide physical therapy services to clients. The PTA implements selected components of client treatments and makes modifications in selected interventions to ensure client safety and comfort. This position works closely with other team members in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and improve or correct disabling conditions resulting from disease and/or injury.

This position works mainly in long-term care facilities and will also provide coverage within outpatient clinics. This position requires physical exertion in order to assist clients. As part of this position, an employee will need to lift clients, stoop, stand, and kneel for long periods of time.

Compensation: $22 – $32/hour

Responsibilities:

  • Administer treatment programs as established by physical therapists.
  • Work in collaboration with a PT to help determine and execute individualized treatment programs.
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach while working with clients, co-workers, other professionals, and the community.
  • Document appropriately and efficiently in client files utilizing the EMR system. Be proficient in computer and typing skills.
  • Evaluate treatment and progress at various stages and adjust as needed.
  • Administer manual exercises, massage, or traction to help alleviate pain, increase client strength, or decrease/prevent re-injury.
  • Instruct client and/or family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
  • Discuss with the client, physician, and other professionals, when needed, to assess the treatment plan.
  • Inform and refer clients to appropriate professionals when diagnosis reveals physical therapy is not the best course of treatment.
  • Administer treatment involving a variety of physical therapy equipment such as hot and cold compresses, ultrasound machines, infrared lights, etc.
  • Evaluate, fit, adjust, or repair medical support devices.
  • Discharge client when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide for appropriate follow-up care or referrals.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Protect clients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Adhere to professional standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure equipment operates properly.
  • Ability to communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds.
